Laura is a best-selling, award-winning author of books for teens and pre-teens, both fiction and non-fiction. Her
books have sold millions of copies and are considered staples in the how-to industry.
Due
to the popularity of her how-to books (more than 4 million sold!) and magazine articles, she has been called the “Queen
of Tween.” She also writes young adult novels. Her latest, Crossing Montana, earned a starred review from Booklist and
Kirkus reviews called it “absorbing and powerful.” Check out the Books section for all her titles and awards.
Laura has a master's degree in English and teaches composition and humanities at the college level. She also writes curriculum
for elementary and secondary schools. In addition, she has worked as a journalist, a book and magazine editor. She is a popular
speaker at writing conferences and in schools because of her diverse publishing experience (including once having to write
herself a rejection letter) and successes with fiction, non-fiction, editing, product development and art.
